Avalon Theater, Easton
 
Opening night at the Avalon had something for everyone: an early Haydn string quartet, a brilliant Brahms piano quintet, and a contemporary trio for viola, clarinet and piano by Gerald Cohen. Mr. Cohen was in the audience for this world premiere, providing the audience with his motivation and context in a short introduction just prior to the performance of the piece.

Aspen Wye River, Queenstown
 
The Tovey Sonata for Two Cellos was received warmly by the audience. A Haydn piano trio and Meyerbeer quintet for clarinet and strings rounded out the concert. As always Aspen Wye River provided wonderful ambience and a great meal.

Emmanuel Episcopal Church, Chestertown
 
A packed house enjoyed the special acoustics of the Emmanuel Episcopal Church which made the oboe sing during the Webern Langsamersatz. A sumptuous reception provided by the church followed the concert. A special thanks to the Hedgelawn Foundation for underwriting the musician fees for this concert.

The Haydn quartet in B minor and Schulhoff concertino for flute, viola and bass were well received but it was the Brahms Serenade in D Major that brought the audience to its feet.

Newberry Auditorium at MEBA, Easton
 
Once again concert goers experienced the phenomenal acoustics of this hall. Two pieces - one a Haydn for flute, cello and piano, and the other a Schubert piano trio, bracketed a Ravel woodwind quintet which was the highlight of the afternoon.

Angels Concert at Webley, an historic 18th century manor house, Wittman
 
Always a full house, Webley provided an amazing backdrop for this popular concert. There was great music, great food, another great finale for the two week series.

Bayfield Brass Quintet

In partnership with the Avalon Foundation

The Bayfield Brass provided a great pastime for a rainy afternoon; there was a large audience in spite of inclement weather.

Young People’s Concert
Avalon Theatre, Easton, MD
The Young People’s concert, designed by Fran Rowell, taught all in the audience regardless of age about the subtleties and changes in music through the years. The final piece, which featured students from the Buxton studios and the First Strings program accompanying the festival artists in a set of variations on Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star, brought the house to its feet.

This fantastic concert was performed in the midst of a Talbot County thunderstorm which provided special effects for the Rebecca Clark trio.
